Seattle Chapter Meeting

Friday, October 14, 2005, Seattle

On a recent dark and stormy night in Kirkland (OK, it was dark but not stormy) the Seattle chapter of the HMCEN assembled at the home of Patrick and Naoko Halstead to celebrate a good fall season, eat some good food, sample some great wine, and to see what everyone is up to.

IP Attorney Daniel Woo made an insightful presentation into what one might describe as some of the odder quirks that affect IP law in its application to new technology. He identified many mistakes and misunderstandings of law that he has seen in his many years of work.

Each guest at this meeting (we don't always do this at the HMCEN meetings) offered a detailed account of what they have been doing recently, the net effect of which makes it apparent that Seattle is still an entrepreneurial hotbed. There were many stories of company growth, sales success, and good results from fundraising.

As always the Halstead's pantry offered plenty of food and, um, beverages and everyone had a very good time catching up and meeting new friends.

This meeting was attended by four students (all of them engineering majors), Mike Bigelow, Nick Evans, Kevin Lloyd, and Jacques Faveau.

The HMCEN is very grateful to Patrick and Naoko for their generous hospitality.
