Bay Area Chapter meeting
Thursday, September 5, 2002, Home of Michael and Sharon Blasgen
The Bay Area Chapter of the Harvey Mudd College Entrepreneurial Network enjoyed an evening dinner social at the Los Gatos home of Michael and Sharon Blasgen on September 5th. After a pleasant climb up a winding road, arriving guests were treated to hors d'oeuvres and drinks, sparkling conversation with long-lost friends, and a stunning view of, um, most of Northern California.
Sherman Chan ('75) was the featured guest of the evening. Sherman told the story of how he built ASPEN, Inc., offering useful lessons to young entrepreneurs in the room. He told the attentive crowd that providing very personal and responsive service ("I returned their calls when I said that I would.") enabled him to compete with giants in the same market.
Dinner and an opportunity for attending entrepreneurs to chat, catch up on business, and discover new things about each other followed Sherman's talk.
The HMCEN sincerely thanks Michael and Sharon for their kind hospitality. As you can see from the photos, the guests had a wonderful time. See if you can spot some friends among these photos.
Throughout 2002, the HMC Entrepreneurial Network will be holding regional meetings in San Diego, the Bay Area, and in Orange County/LA. Check back for times and locations!
