Los Angeles Chapter meeting

Friday, April 4, 2003, Beckham Center

The Los Angeles/Orange County chapter of the HMCEN held their regional meeting at The Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering in Irvine on April 4, 2003. After and hour or so of catching up on news and getting reacquainted with old friends, chapter members sat down and listened to a fascinating business war story from veteran entrepreneur Jeff Mitchell ’79. Jeff’s family founded the Mitchell Rubber Company, which has little to do with semi-conductors, XML coding, or wi-fi. Instead the revealing and useful stories were about hair-raising lawsuits, workers’ comp, offshore captives and LBOs. Many a young entrepreneur was seen taking notes fast and furious.

After Jeff’s talk the conversation drifted out into the lobby where all enjoyed a light meal and drinks. During the lobby conversation it became apparent that a number of young Mudders have recently launched companies. Some of them are shown in these pictures.

Do you recognize them?

Do you know about their new companies? You should!
